About the Artist
Cutting through a piece of fruit and revealing the arrangement of the seeds inside of it;
finding one particular leaf which just seems to stand out from the crowd because of its color
or texture; holding a rock which has been smoothed by constant churning and turning of rushing
waters in a cool stream; discovering a feather which once belonged to a beautiful bird of prey...
These things captivate my creative spirit. They are vibrant reminders of the awesomeness of the
Creator!
My artwork is a result of my romance with nature and my lifelong desire to create art. I paint
images that remind me of the unique beauty of nature in an uncomplicated way. Early drawings in
pen and ink became the jumping-off point for work that followed using acrylic as my preferred
medium.
You will find no fancy titles behind my name, no degree in a formal art education, no long
biography of my accomplishments in the art world - only art done "my way" - self-taught, trial
and error. I am not a folk artist, but neither do I create fine art. I strive to interpret the beauty
of shapes, colors, and textures of individual subjects as I see them with no desire to embellish
them or diminish them in any way. I am hopeful that my determination and purpose will be an inspiration
to others.
Beginning in 1996, I marketed my hand-painted, functional as well as decorative, wooden accessories through
select juried art/craft venues. My work has found homes in more than 15 states. After a two-year hiatus from
making art, I have resumed my original product line. New work includes small-scale original art in
hand-grained frames.
